Chaperones

A chaperone is someone who serves as a witness for both a patient and a clinician as a safeguard for both parties during a medical examination or procedure.

If your doctor or nurse needs to examine you during your consultation, and you would like a chaperone to be present, please ask your doctor or nurse, and they will arrange one for you.

Friends and family are not permitted to act as chaperones.

In some cases, it may be necessary to delay the examination until staff trained as chaperones are available.

Please note we have both male and female members of the team who are trained chaperones. If you have a preference, please discuss this with a member of the team and where possible we will accommodate your request.
